Bio

Born Randy Jay Grad, j-SPLiT broke out of the confines of a stifling suburban existence and rose into the identity that has become synonymous with his continuum of desire. Throughout childhood something loomed over him, yet he was unsure of how to speak truth to the ideas in his head. How does one explain something greater than anything else known to man? The answer lied in the language of the world, speak out through music.

Beginning with a conventional arsenal, j-SPLiT set out on a mission against conformists, corporate puppets, and all those betraying his art through the guise of industry. Classically trained, he combined his self taught piano with his love of jazz by telling a story of hope through his saxophone. He reached as many as he could but he still desired for more, he wanted to speak to the masses. He knew as all true revolutionists know that the masses are hidden amidst the brainwashed, they are unaware of their unfortunate predicaments because they have never been shown difference. How could their eyes be opened? How were his own?

As a child j-SPLiT began expressing his own confused frustrations through music, not clever semantics, but the music that is at the very root of all of us. He did not pursue lyrics that would confuse and aggravate. He put together beats that would entice and motivate. He wanted to share this love with everyone he met, and those he would eventually, even those still that he would never know other than as fans driven toward the same goal of release, an endless loop of encircled stories, all as unique and dignified as his own.
